Thoughts on episode 9

Posted by GroundsPatrol - July 4th, 2019

In no particular order:

  • @Krinkels and @The-Swain were FUN to talk to! I loved their passion and energy. Got me excited too and we ended up just being excited together about everything.

  • I was especially excited to talk to these guys after doing the Madness Community Roundtable last episode. A lot of what we talked about there became relevant here. I was even able to use a review from @Cyberdevil from that episode to prompt a question in this one.

  • I like when a common topic stretches over consecutive episodes. Might pursue that more in the future.

  • Krinkels and Swain sat together in their office and shared one microphone, then listened to me through speakers while talking. I think this opened up a few difficulties on both ends - they had to make sure that their audio setup wasn’t creating feedback, and while it didn’t, it did mean my voice was picked up in their audio channel which was something I ended up having to cut out line-by-line later. Guys, if you’re reading this, I don’t blame you for the setup - I’m not sure how it would have been better achieved without you basically sitting in different rooms using different computers, mics, etc. Or at the least having to use a headphone splitter. Idk.

  • I loved having @Kelzad and @Cymbourine sit in as the podcast’s first “live audience”. That’s a feature I planned from the beginning - likely as a Patreon perk? - but it’s also fun to cherry-pick a person or two relevant to the conversation and let them sit in as a gift. (Don’t PM me asking to sit in! lol)

  • The success of these last two episodes is really exciting to see! Like I keep saying in the podcast, I have plans for short- and long-term growth of this project and gauge when to take steps forward by the viewership. More episodes with this level of success will mean new, exciting things might be happening sooner than later.

  • I’m going to start, in general, announcing the next episode’s guest(s) the Sunday before the episode airs.
